About FORN

A shared passion for the past.

We are the Faroe Islands Metal Detecting and Archaeological Association. A community built on curiosity, care and the belief that knowledge grows when we share it.

Our purpose

The past belongs in our future.

FORN was founded in 2026 to bring together metal detectorists and others interested in Faroese archaeology. We work to strengthen knowledge of our history and cultural heritage.

Responsible detecting, careful recording and good cooperation with museums, landowners and authorities are central to that work. The exhibition also opens a door to stories held in private homes and local collections.
